Trailed Sabre Drill
Trailed Sabre Drill
The new 12m Trailed Sabre Drill represents a major milestone in the development of the Sabre range and is the first 12 meter production drill manufactured by Weaving Machinery. Developed for large scale arable farms and contractors requiring greater daily output. This allows operators to make better use of increasingly limited drilling windows and respond quicker when soil and weather conditions are favourable. By reducing the number of passes and headland turns required, the 12m Trailed Sabre can also help improve operational efficiency, reduce unnecessary wheelings and make more productive use of both the tractor and the operator. For business managing large acreages, this additional drilling capacity can make the difference between finishing drilling at the optimum time and having crop establishment delayed by changing conditions.
Despite its increased scale and output, the 12 Trailed Sabre remains true to the straightforward and practical design principles that have made the Sabre range so successful. It combines high capacity drilling with low disturbance establishment, precise seed placement and the ability to work effectively in large quantities of crop residue. The wide machine is designed to follow ground contours across the entire 12m working width, helping to maintain an even sowing depth with even establishment. Simple depth adjustment, accurate metering and an uncomplicated layout help minimise setup time and downtime. The result is a productive, versatile and cost conscious drill that brings the established benefits of the Sabre to a new class of large scale farming operation. Delivering significantly greater work rates without compromising the simplicity, accuracy and low disturbance performance expected from a Weaving drill.

Trailed Sabre Drill Key Features
Rapid Sowing Depth Control
Field conditions, seed types and varieties can change and the Trailed Sabre drill working depth can be altered quickly to match by using the depth wheels. There are 2 wheels per wing section and the hydraulic rams attached are extended and aluminium spacers inserted to set the desired depth.
Hydraulic Fan
The Trailed Sabre drill is fitted with a hydraulic fan drive. This reduces the RPM on the tractor, which in turn reduces fuel costs, gives more flexibility with air flow and helps prevent wear and tear.
Hardwearing Sabre Coulter
12mm wide boron steel rigid tine delivers accurate seed placement. Each tine is mounted on rubber torsion bars, with an adjustable stainless steel seed tube suitable for all seed sizes. The 130mm Tungsten carbide tip design ensures longevity of the coulter. A rubber exhaust boot at the top of the coulter diffuses 50% of the air allowing controlled seed delivery to the soil and preventing seed bounce.
Following Harrow
The rear Following Harrow bar consists of 2 rows of double following harrows. These are prongs of the following harrow are positioned either side of each coulter to consolidate soil back to where the seed has been placed. These are manually set and then can be hydraulically adjusted on the move depending on field conditions.
Split Hopper
Featuring a 3-way split hopper, the Trailed Sabre has an overall capacity of 6,500L split 50/10/40. This allows you to place multiple products of different sizes at different rates all in the same seeding zone. The hoppers are pressurised and have easy to use latch down steel lids and screw on lid for the small seeds hopper. Internally the hoppers have low level sensors as well as an internal ladder to gain access for deep cleaning.
Filling Platform
All 3 hoppers can be filled seamlessly by using the hydraulic fold out platform with hand rail. When folding for transport this platform will retract automatically.
AS1X Electric Control
All 3 metering units are controlled by AS1X. This is an iSOBUS system that allows on the go rate adjustment, variable rate prescriptions and more. It monitors and controls tramlining, hopper level, fan speed alarms as well as activity data such as area worked and quantities applied. This system is supplied as iSOBUS as standard, standalone screens are available upon request.
Wing Support Wheels
Double support wheels are fitted as standard on our drill, providing reliable depth guidance across the full working width. They support and stabilise each wing, helping it follow the ground contour smoothly and maintain the set drilling depth. By improving wing control and reducing movement on uneven or variable soils, the double support wheels ensure consistent seed placement, smoother operation and a more uniform finish across the field.
